Base is down (take 1)

On account of Simon having zero sense of smell he seems to be the only one able to cope with the stinky job of stream clearance on the East side, as well as some serious log shifting to get the flow going down a single path.
Tracey and I got the sand and clay slip base down with re-purposed fire-bricks (from old storage heaters at home) - ready for the onslaught of bad weather to see how it holds.
Have decided that the actual oven build is going to happen the late May bank holiday as we will need at least two days together to get enough clay puddled and ready to mould the clay bricks with.

Found a Blackbird nest perched on two swaying branches of a Rhodie about 3 feet off the ground, so that definitely says we were right to stop the clearance until the end of summer.  Spring is well underway indeed.... Primroses everywhere - will need to rescue some from the fire area before Beltane in a couple of weeks; will move them into camp, to line the new steps and the steps up onto fox ridge - a job for next Sunday.

finally caught him on the cam
Also noticed a number of sapling hollies which need to be transplanted into pots ready for replanting around the roundhouse when it's built later this summer. As evergreens they will provide good year round camouflage and shelter for the mammals and birds.
